ABOUT ME

My Story
A little background about me is I am orginally from Washington, but moved to sunny California when I was I was five years old. I have lived in California since, and now I live in San Diego pursuing a degree in Nutrition.
Nutrition is a big passion of mine, but fitness is right beside it. I enjoy lifiting, and it is probably what has changed my life along with gaining a healthy relationship with food.
I didn't always have a healthy mindeset about food. In high school, I believed "eating clean" was what health meant. My diet at the time consisted of a breakfast of plain oatmeal drowned in water. I would actually keep adding water in order to fill myself up, and keep hunger away. A snack would be a plain non-fat greek yogurt. Lunch would be mainly plain vegetables with a small amount of chicken. Before my two-hour gym workouts (which only consisted of cardio) I would eat a just few grapes because I believed this would "fuel my workout." Dinner was not really dinner, but more of a snack and would only be 2 eggs or just vegetables. I beileved I was the picture of health because I didn't eat any "bad" foods such as sugar, salt, or fat.
Fast forward two years, and I was at a healthy weight, but still had the same mentality of placing foods into "bad or "good" foods. This is when I began to binge. It was my first year in college, and when night-time came around I would binge on chips, granola, "health" bars, fruit, cereal, peanut butter...(etc). Basically everything I was still restriciting in my diet.
Which brings me here. I now follow IIFYM (if it fits your macros) style-based diet. By no means is it a diet! What IIFYM does, is it takes away that persona of "good" and "bad" foods, but instead it reinforces how we should look at food, which is food. I no longer deprive myself of certain foods because I know if I want something I can just fit it into my macros.
There is no such thing as "clean eating" to me. I don't like to put labels on anything because I feel we get too hung up on what we can't eat which leads us to overeat or binge.
My goal is to simply help people get the lifestyle they want. I want to show and educate people what nutrition really is. I love to lift and refuel my body with good wholseome food, but I also like to enjoy life with friends. Trust me, there is balance, you just have to find your own.
