A burger is one of the most popular "cheat meals" out there, but why consider it a cheat meal when you can recreate a much similar version of a burger with this recipe?

Yes, I know this isn't an ACTUAL burger, but it taste pretty darn close to one, and the macros for this recipe is very easy to tailor to your own (hence why you can eat it multiple days of the week, and not just on your "cheat meal."

Side note: I feel we need to stop calling our meals or foods we love, "cheat meals", it gives it a kind of a naughty or guilty feeling when we have these foods. When I used to refer to my meals as "cheats" I would go all out on these meals because I felt so restrictive, and that this was the only day where I could eat something like this. You can imagine how awful my body felt in the morning after I gorged on all these "naughty" foods.

If you are having a problem with implementing the foods you love in your daily diet, then you need to take a step back, and reevaluate how you see foods. This is why I created this recipe! I used to struggle with these type of foods! Ketchup was off limits. Pickles? Too high in sodium. Something besides chicken? No thanks. This cycle led me to binge on these foods later on, and I would try to find foods that I also saw as bad. "Well since I ate this burger, I must get ice cream because this is the only day I can do that." <-- Not a good mindset.

This recipe allows you to fit a burger like recipe into your macros, so a normal burger doesn't feel like a cheat meal. Also, this burger is delicious, and makes a great post-workout meal, and is packed with fiber, vitamins, and healthy carbs.

Here is what you will need:

1package of Ground Bison (Buffalo)- this is a leaner cut of meat then ground beef, but has an amazing flavor and mouthfeel- Seasoned with: pink sea salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic, onion flakes, Mrs. Dash no salt Steak seasoning.

100-120g of Sweet Potato (I use spiraled sweet potato because it's fun and has volume)

100-120g of Green Beans (shredded)- for those micros, and trust me they go great with this dish/ salad

Toppings:

Pickles

Sauerkraut ( Great source of Probiotics)

Ketchup + Mustard

**I find the organic mustards of 50% LESS SUGAR than the regular ones, so worth paying a little extra with no High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Normally for my dish (pictured above)

I use 4oz of bison, 100 g sweet potato, 100 g green beans, 2 servings of sauerkraut, 1 slice pickle, 20g ketchup, mustard for a total of:

357kcal

28g protein

38g carbs

11g fat

You can easily play with this recipe to fit for your macros or if you have any other burger toppings.
